One of the most anticipated games in 2017 has to be Red Dead Redemption 2. The official Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer was released in Oct 2016 shortly after Rockstar posted a few images on social media with the classic Red Dead colors. Development for Red Dead Redemption 2 began shortly after the release of the original for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
You can expect yet another beautiful open world in the western heartland of America. The trailer doesn't reveal much, but it does show glimpses of how stunning the world will appear. The detail looks great within the trailer, although there is no actual game play footage.
Though short, there is one line towards the end of the trailer from an unknown man:
"Listen to me. When the time comes, you gotta run and don't look back. This is over."
After the man is done speaking, you hear a "Heyaw!" as a group of seven men ride off on horseback. We will look forward to more trailers as the game gets closer to launch. Right now, there is no official launch date, but it is scheduled released around Q3 or Q4 of this year and should easily be one of the best PS4 games of 2017
There was a bit of controversy surrounding the announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2 as it was only announced for the PS4 and Xbox One. As you can imagine, PC gamers were outraged by this as the original was never released for PC either. There was a workaround to play Red Dead Remption on PC, but it involves the PlayStation Now service. Perhaps the future for the second installment will be similar by porting it over to the PC using PlayStation Now.
More speculation around the game could involve the option to play as seven different characters, with John Marston from the original being one of them. This has yet to be confirmed, so we will keep on top of this. This would open the game up and create so many new possibilities, side quests, interactions, and game decisions. We know how successful Rockstar was with their multiple characters and the ability to switch between them in GTA V, so the possibility of something similar, or something equally as awesome could exist.
Red Dead Redemption Map leaked ?
There was a Red Dead Redemption 2 map leak which got posted on NeoGAF, but was quickly removed. However, this is the internet after all and of course screenshots were taken. A close look at the map reveals the Great Plains and many different Caravan camps. There is also a large body of water and an intertwined river system flowing throughout the map. It looks big to say the least with towns, settlements, landmarks, and gang hideouts sprinkled nicely all over the place.
The source for the leaked map and info comes from Techradar.
