You may remember that the first and latest DLC for ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’, titled ‘Onslaught’, featured new maps, a new gun, and the next episode for the Extinction mode. However, tucked underneath all of that, is a semi-secret field order reward that becomes available to you if you successfully complete a field order whilst in the new ‘Fog’ map. Essentially, when completed, the player is given a care package call-in (i.e. a coloured smoke canister) that holds a special skin for the player to don temporarily. This enables to the player to become horror icon, Michael Myers, complete with axe, and run around the map at increased speed, hacking people with said axe. This is extremely fun to do, especially as the equally iconic music from his films kick in. Many players assumed this was a one-off, random throwback to the character.
Now, it is clear that that was not the case. On Call of Duty’s official Instagram page, a video post captioned “if it bleeds… we can kill it” (a memorable quote from 80s action flick, ‘Predator’) was released. In the short video, it shows through the eyes of a soldier a part of one of the four new maps, called ‘Ruins’. He’s breathing carefully, as he looks around his environment. From an unknown location, clicking sounds can be heard. Before too long, a hidden figure drops down in front of him, and runs in his direction, before the screen goes black. All of the evidence points towards another field order reward in the shape of a ‘Predator’, which is amazing.
So far, although it is early days, it appears that Infinity Ward are going with horror icons as field order rewards. Does this mean we could see an Alien cameo? After all, a considerable portion of the campaign of Ghosts was set in space and we are yet to see a multiplayer map set in space.
Whilst we await Activision’s official confirmation of this (the Instagram post was only a teaser, not an announcement), we will be sure to keep bang up to date on this topic.
What do you think of a Predator as a field order reward? What do you hope the next field order reward will be? As always, please feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
