A list of every confirmed PlayStation 4 game in 2017

the last of us part 2 screenshot

Below are all the confirmed games from PlayStation for 2017.  Every game listed is available on the PlayStation 4, with some games being made available for other consoles as well.

With the new year ringing in, we say good-bye to 2016 and reflect on all the amazing titles that came with it for the PlayStation 4.  Luckily for PlayStation fans, 2017 looks to be pretty awesome.  We wanted to make a list of all the games which will become available in 2017, while highlighting a few of the blockbusters.

Below are some games we are really looking forward to with a brief description, or if you want to skip straight to the entire list, click here.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Release date: January 24, 2017
Platforms: PS4, PSVR, PC, Xbox One

The new addition to the popular Resident Evil series comes to PS4 as well as PlayStation VR on January 24, 2017. After a bit of a disappointment with RE6, we're hoping the new Resident Evil is more true to the original and focus on survival tactics.  It will be interesting to see if the PlayStation VR version be increasingly terrifying.

For Honor

Release date: February 14, 2017
Platforms: PS4, PC, Xbox One

An exiting new game For Honor will be coming out mid February. This game looks crazy fun, it is a 4v4 multiplayer melee combat fighting arena. You can choose your faction and be one of a Knight, a Samurai, or a Viking. You brawl it out in exciting duels across a range of different battlefields (maps).  The combat system looks pretty sweet, and you know if it's from Ubisoft it's going to be refined and well thought out.  The duels look challenging, and your strategy will be a huge part in how you defeat your opponents.

Horizon Zero Dawn

Release date: February 28, 2017 (US) / March 1, 2017 (EU)
Platforms: PS4

Horizon Zero Dawn looks to be incredibly epic, that truly is the best way to describe it.  This PS4 exclusive comes to you as a showcase for the PS4 Pro with incredible 4k enhancements.  The games takes place in a far out world where robotic dinosaurs rule.  It is an action adventure / RPG game that looks to be very promising.  Horizon Zero Dawn has been in development since 2011.  Usually when a game has taken so long to come out, they are incredibly detailed.  Let's hope that is true of this game!

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Release date: March 21, 2017 (Americas) / March 23, 2017 (Europe)
Platforms: PS4, PC, Xbox One

The new Mass Effect: Andromeda game is the successor to the popular Mass Effect 3 game.  It is an action RPG / third person shooter based in an open environment world, unlike previous Mass Effect games.  It was announced back at E3 2015, so there has definitely been some good time to develop this new rendition.  From everything we've seen, it is a bit more unique than the other games in the series in the sense you get to choose your own skills this time and customize your character build, opposed to predefined builds.

God of War

Release date: TBD - Q3 - Q4 2017
Platforms: PS4

A new journey for Kratos begins as the classic God of War tale comes back to PS4, dropping the numbering on the title. With a new purpose, and his son at his side, Kratos' legacy continues to grow, while teaching his young son the ways of a true warrior.  Will Kratos son bring out a softer side in him? And help him tame the beast within.  We look forward to finding out

Red Dead Redemption 2

Release date: TBD - Q3 - Q4 2017
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One

Red Dead Redemption was one of our favorite games on PlayStation 3, so we are extremely excited for the sequel coming from Rockstar Games. The game takes place in a western open world environment that examines the hardships of an unforgiving American heartland.  We know that GTA V was a smashing success from Rockstar, and we know that they truly know how to create and support online multiplayer experiences, so we think Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be nothing short of amazing.

The Last of Us Part 2

Release date: TBD
Platforms: PS4

The best selling and one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time comes at us again with part 2. It would be hard to find too many PS4 gamers out there not excited for this.  Not much is known about The Last of Us Part 2 with the exception that we know Joel and Ellie will be returning and the game takes place roughly 5 years after the original.  It was officially announced recently at the PlayStation Experience event in December 2016, but the game has been in development since 2014 and it promises to be a great one. We added this game to the list because we are hopeful it comes out in 2017, although no official date or time frame has been confirmed.

Q3 & Q4 2017 - There are a ton of releases scheduled to come out between summer 2017 to the end of the year, but it's still very early and often publishers don't have final dates cemented until later.  There are definitely some major hitters in 2017 though as the year looks to be as strong as ever for PlayStation. Titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Final Fantasy 12, Dawn of War 3, and Star Wars: Battlefront 2 are just a few of the headliners.
