So yet another leaked asset from Ubisoft, is this a PR stunt or their behalf or do they have the worst security on the planet? Who knows. Here’s the official statement released by the studio today:
“It is always unfortunate when internal assets, not intended for public consumption, are leaked. And, while we certainly welcome anticipation for all of our upcoming titles, we’re disappointed for our fans, and our development team, that this conceptual asset is now public,” a representative said. “The team in our Quebec studio has been hard at work on the particular game in question for the past few years, and we’re excited to officially unveil what the studio has been working on at a later date. In the meantime, our number one priority is enhancing the experience of Assassin’s Creed Unity for players.”
It’s clear that next year’s Assassins Creed will be set in Victorian London which comes across as an exciting concept, but part of me also feels that it’s time to drop Assassins Creed and move onto a new IP. However Ubisoft’s CEO responded to criticism from the press in Spring this year saying that it has become an annual series because of the substantial sales figures achieved each year, and the surprising fact that it’s increased every year since the franchise’s inception. Regardless of where you stand on the matter, here are the leaked screens.
